Rosanna comes from a very musical family where singing and playing the guitar were ingrained from an early age. Her father was a big fan of Jazz and Country music and often played it at home. At the age of 16, she was asked to join the band “The News” as a singer. This gave her the opportunity to tour the country and further develop herself, alongside taking singing lessons and attending music school. In the 1980s, Rosanna was one of the vocalists in the group Lobo & The Pearls. In 1981, they had a number 1 hit in the National Hit Parade and the BRT Top 30 with ‘The Caribbean Discoshow’, a medley of old hits by Harry Belafonte. The record reached the 8th position in the United Kingdom.
Afterwards, Rosanna joined the Vocal Group Sisters, who were particularly successful in the 1990s. After a break of 11 years, this group is back in the spotlight. Together with The Ramblers, the most famous dance and jazz orchestra that the Netherlands has ever known, they celebrated this with a festive theater tour throughout the Netherlands, commemorating their 90 years of existence.
At Sonny’s Inc, the largest party band in the Netherlands, Rosanna was one of the backing vocalists. For over 25 years, they have been performing both nationally and internationally, covering a wide range of versatile music genres including Latin, pop, soul, funk, R&B, jazzy, and Dutch-language songs. But always recognizable!
In 2003, she started her solo career, and in 2006, she recorded her first album “What the World Needs Now” with the beautiful songs of Burt Bacharach and Hal David in the studio of Hans Vermeulen in Thailand. In between (1995 – 2005), she was actively involved as one of the regular backing vocalists for Gerard Joling. René Froger and Lee Towers have also called upon her talents.
A remarkable performance by Rosanna was “Singing on Horseback.” In 2007, she performed with sturdy and beautiful Friesian stallions and later with her own Friesian mare Vrouwkje, presenting a show at the Gala evening of Jumping Amsterdam. The audience was highly impressed. Singing while riding in walk, trot, and canter is indeed a challenging feat!
Since 2015, she has strongly felt the urge to lean more towards the jazzy side. It’s right up her alley… Her dream came true in 2019 with her own theater tour across the Netherlands. With “Unforgettable Songs,” she brought forth the most beautiful tunes from the American Songbook, including songs by Dinah Washington, Etta James, Shirley Bassey, and the Carpenters. Nowadays, she also visits nursing homes with this repertoire, allowing people to enjoy timeless melodies.
From December 2022, two singles have been released from her upcoming album “Many Colors,” titled “Sea of Booze” and “Perfect World.” The title of the album already hints at the diverse genres Rosanna incorporates into her repertoire.
In 2023, Rosanna embarked on her own band venture, The Project. The genre they play is Blues & Soul. Standing in front of a band is her strongest position!
